Introduction
The Client has requested a Product Development of Interactive Gear for ModBox Skill Learning. As a sport ModBox promotes positivity and teamwork overall with the benefits of;
● High fitness levels.
● Develops mobility.
● Balance.
● Hand-eye coordination.
Previously Professor Allan Hahn and Mr Paul Perkins explained that the valuable and wide spread positivity this sport has influenced in many communities.
Since ModBox is a modified version of boxing with the components of interactive gloves, vests or tee-shirts that require the minimum amount of contact between opponents or teammates. This prevents excessive force and any hits towards the head.
The goal is to design a system or accessory to assist the user of the age range 14 to 22 years. The system or accessory should include;
● 2 or 3 connected objects per team.
● Suitable for implementation in a community sports environment.
● Focus on increasing participant safety and or enjoyment.
● Consideration should be given to the overall age range of MODBOX which 10-60 years.
We, Designiverse, have a design direction to create a device or product that focuses on bringing forward the approach of competitiveness in a non-contact aggressive way by focusing on the aspect of fun. This will keep within ModBox’s values of not causing the user any harm or distress.
We are looking at creating an interactive product that involves a less aggressive form of competition that tests the user’s reaction speed and accuracy in a soothing and entertaining environment.
Concept 1: Speed Agility Reaction Trainer, SART.
The Speed Agility Reaction Trainer, SART is an electronic device that encourages the user to improve their fitness via their reaction and agility. This device has many functions that are determined by the number of users participating. The device shoots foam balls in an area and speed that is determined by the number of participants and their skill level.
To track their fitness goals, they are pre-set into the app and can be accessed via the progress page while also having the option to see their standing among their peers.
Sport Health Wellbeing Habits are supported by encouraging the user via conditioning the user to use positive movements and repetition based on improving their reaction time.
The app will also be able to connect both the user and coach for the purpose of tracking their improvement and progress throughout the levels. This will include the user and coach’s ability to customize to focus on users’ specific areas of improvement.
The summary of this device is that it can be used from an individual through to a large group setting. Depending on the number of participants the shooting range (velocity), intervals (time between) and users skill determine the status of the device. These 3 variables determine the reaction of the participants rate of overall performance of catching, hitting/deflecting or dodging.

Concept 2: Interactive Reactive Coordination Trainer, IRCT.
The Interactive Reactive Coordination Trainer is an electronic device that encourages the user to improve their fitness, agility and coordination via their reaction speed and accuracy. This device records data through the application, an example of this would be the speed between lights and the user’s ability of hitting them with minimal time between light and hit.
To track the user’s fitness goals, they are pre-set into the app and can be accessed via the progress page while also having the option to see their standing among their peers.
Sport Health Wellbeing Habits are supported by encouraging the participant via repetition and conditioning the user to use positive correct movements while improving their reaction time in the process.
The application will also be able to connect both the coach and user for tracking their overall improvement and progress through the level system that was implemented and a further breakdown when needed. This will include the user and coach’s ability to customise the exercises to focus on areas that the user might need to focus on or correct.
To summarise this device is capable to be used from and individual standpoint to a pair setting. The pair setting instils the positive reinforcement of the positivity and fun of working in a team to achieve the same goal. Depending on the number of participants the IRCT will be set up in a specific way, this also depends if the device is being used on the wall for upper body work or the floor for the improvement of footwork. The overall performance of hitting sequences, force control and footwork speed and the feedback of the lights and sounds.
